We are excited to introduce Dr. Rebecca Swartzentruber as the newest optometrist at our practice. Her enthusiasm for Vision Therapy and dedication to children’s eye health make her a wonderful addition to the care we provide for families across Central Kentucky.

Vision Therapy and Dr. Swartzentruber's Journey

Vision Therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy for the eyes, brain, and body, and it immediately resonated with Dr. Swartzentruber during optometry school. Her path from student to clinician highlights the importance of this often overlooked service.

Discovering Vision Therapy

While in school, the science behind Vision Therapy clicked for Dr. Swartzentruber. She realized that helping patients train their visual systems could improve everyday tasks like reading and learning.

Joining Our Practice

During a clinical rotation at the University of Kentucky, she visited our clinic to see Vision Therapy in action. Five years later, she now brings that same passion and knowledge to our team in Versailles and the surrounding region.

Helping Children Succeed

Dr. Swartzentruber works closely with students who struggle in the classroom due to unrecognized visual problems. Her goal is to uncover these issues and guide children toward better performance and confidence.

Focus on Pediatric Eye Care

In our Children’s Vision and Learning Center, she evaluates how well a child’s eyes work together and how their brain processes visual information. This detailed approach helps pinpoint the root of academic challenges.

Life in Central Kentucky

Outside the clinic, Dr. Swartzentruber is an active member of the Lexington community, where she lives with her husband, Michael.

Community Involvement

She hosts a young adult fellowship group and participates in various church activities through South Elkhorn Christian Church, reflecting her commitment to service beyond eye care.
